Fireco Chooses Wireless Logic M2M Connectivity Fire Alarm Service for the Deaf
Fireco Ltd., the UK’s leading specialist in simple, effective services and solutions for fire safety management, has chosen Europe’s leading independent M2M connectivity provider, Wireless Logic, to provide secure, Fixed-IP connectivity for its Deaf Messaging Service (DMS)
London, Thursday 8th July – Fireco Ltd., the UK’s leading specialist in simple, effective services and solutions for fire safety management, has chosen Europe’s leading independent M2M connectivity provider, Wireless Logic, to provide secure, Fixed-IP connectivity for its Deaf Messaging Service (DMS) – a new fire safety product that alerts deaf or hard of hearing people, via their mobile phone, of a fire alarm in public places such as supermarkets, hotels, shopping centres and libraries.
MS helps service providers and employers comply with elements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), allowing deaf and hard of hearing people the freedom to move around buildings without worry of missing an emergency situation.
A DMS unit installs easily in under half an hour, and when the fire alarm sounds a text message (SMS) is sent to the mobile phone of connected users to let them know the fire alarm is sounding. The user’s mobile is connected to DMS by sending one text with the relevant location code when they entre the premises. They are then connected under that location and will be sent a text should the fire alarm sound.
DMS works by allowing retailers / participants to integrate a simple DMS controller, comprising a Wireless Logic SIM into their existing alarms’ control panels which, when the alarm sounds, automatically sends an SMS text to the mobile phones of connected subscribers.
The solution is free to the user – the only charge they pay is the cost of a text message. DMS is provided as a secondary warning device that will prevent confusion usually suffered when audible messages are missed.
